Incorporating video is a powerful way to boost user engagement and showcase your work across different mediums. At Biondo Studio, we typically install one of three user-friendly video players.
While we are always available for website maintenance and updates, these guides will help you take control of your own video content.
1. The Automated YouTube Playlist Player
This is our most popular option for high-volume video content. It uses a secure API to sync a specific YouTube playlist directly to your site.
- How to Update: Simply upload a new video to YouTube, set it to “Public,” and add it to your connected playlist.
- Reordering: Drag and drop the videos within your YouTube account; the website player will update automatically without you ever needing to log in to WordPress.
- Setup Note: We require temporary YouTube access to create a secure API key. We always recommend changing your password once the connection is established.
2. The Divi Video Module
If you need to place a single video on a specific page, we use the native Divi Video Module.
- Host your video: Upload your file to YouTube or Vimeo and copy the URL.
- Open the Module: In the Divi builder, click the Gear Icon on the video module.
- Insert URL: Click “Add Video” or select the existing one. Choose “Insert from URL” on the left, paste your link, and the thumbnail will generate automatically.
- Save: Save the module and then the page.
3. Video Gallery Player Pro
For advanced galleries with custom thumbnails, we use Video Gallery Player Pro. This requires a few extra steps for a polished look.
- Host the File: Upload your video to a third-party server (YouTube or Vimeo) to keep your website speed fast.
- Prepare a Thumbnail: Create a custom image 854 x 480pixels.
- Update the Gallery: Follow these specific step-by-step screenshots to add the link and thumbnail to your gallery dashboard.
