Illustration and Website Development
Jake Burt
This is our second site with the Middle Grade and Young Adult author Jake Burt. He is really fun to work with because we’ve created illustrations loosely based on really cool books that he’s writing. For this one, we used neon colors sparingly with various neutral shades, and a futuristic and slight dystopian vibe influenced by his book Cleo Porter and the Body Electric. All text on the site is completely readable with alt and title tagged images for best SEO practices. Burt also has a full blog on the website, so he can make a post whenever he likes, which also increases SEO, and also allows for easy posting on social media.
As an author of children’s books, It was important to me that my website be visually appealing and easily accessible for kids and teachers. Biondo Studio did a great job with both, and I couldn’t be happier with the design, the ease of access, and the security of my site.Branding and design
Jake brainstormed with us about possible concepts to tie loosely in with the new book, but not too much that it limits him from still having the site be relevant for future books. An illustration was drafted and we made tweaks as needed until it was just right.
Website development
We migrated Jake’s blog posts from his previous site into this one, so that everything was in one place and he could continue his writing on the site. Each book is organized into it’s own page with the ability to purchase online via links.
Technical assistance
Managed WordPress hosting was set up for Jake with our affilate, which includes daily automatic backups, basic website security and an SSL certficiate. He can maintain his blog posts and general updates, and we are available for larger updates as needed.
